I'll be traveling to Seoul next month. Are there any good attractions and activities for teens?

If they want something a bit different, try the Dongdaemun Design Plaza at night. The building itself is this huge silver spaceship-looking thing with LED roses all over the lawn, and the light shows on the facade run until midnight. Teens seem to love wandering around taking photos for their feeds, and there's a 24-hour food alley in the basement where you can get tteokbokki and fried dumplings for under 5,000 won.

For teens, definitely check out Hongdae on a weekend afternoon. The whole area around Hongik University is packed with street performers, indie music buskers, and these quirky themed cafes where you can pet raccoons or sheep. It's way more lively and age-appropriate than some of the tourist spots like Gyeongbokgung, which can feel a bit like a history lesson.

If they're into gaming, head to the PC bang near Sangsu Station that has a dedicated console room with PS5s and Switches. You can rent it by the hour for like 3,000 won and they deliver snacks to your station. Just bring ID because some places are strict about curfew for minors after 10pm.

fwiw the VR thing at Lotte World is good but if they want something more physical, the bouldering gyms in Seoul are next level. There's this one called Climb in Seongsu that has routes for all levels and it's like 15,000 won for a day pass with shoes included. the whole Seongsu area is full of cool cafes and vintage shops too so you can make an afternoon of it

also if they're into food, definitely hit up a pojangmacha at night. there's a good stretch of them near Jongno 3-ga station where you can sit on plastic stools and eat hot skewers and drink sikhye for like 2,000 won each. it's way more fun than a sit-down restaurant and the ajummas running them are usually super friendly even if they don't speak english

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
