Hi!

I'm 25m from Canada. I'm ethnically Korean and came here to tour the motherland and basically get to know the Korean culture. The problem is, I don't really know anyone and it's been kind of lonely.

If anyone wants to just hang out and maybe go see sights together let me know! I speak both Korean and English fluently.

I've been in a similar spot and honestly, hitting up the less touristy neighborhoods makes a huge difference. If you want something a bit different from the usual palace circuit, check out Seongsu-dong, it's got a lot of converted factory cafes and galleries that feel more like Brooklyn than Seoul. Also, the walk along the Cheonggyecheon stream from Gwanghwamun towards Dongdaemun is really nice in the evening and free.

honestly if you want a real taste of korea without the tourist crowds, hit up ikseon-dong instead of bukchon. it's this maze of old hanok houses turned into tiny cafes and vintage shops, way more chill than the main drag. grab some hotteok from the street stall near the main alley, that one's been there forever. also the seoul city wall hike from naksan park is short but gives you a solid view of the old city without fighting for space at namsan

hey man, 26m local here, if you wanna skip the tourist crowds for a day hongdae's got some hidden karaoke spots and indie bars that are way more fun than the main streets, plus there's a quiet hike up ansan mountain right behind it that gives a killer view of the city without the namsan lineups, just dm me

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
