Is Seoul more bearable than Tokyo in the end of August - beginning of September?

People tell us that it will be unbearably humid and hot. So we are thinking to visit Seoul, hoping for slightly less hot and more bearable weather. Can anyone confirm whether Seoul is better regarding weather than Tokyo and central Japan during that period?

You're not going to find a meaningful weather difference between the two. Both are in that miserable late summer window where the humidity sits around 70-80% and the heat index makes the actual temperature feel like a lie. What Seoul has going for it is that the city is built around mountains and the Han River, so you can find breezier spots if you know where to go. Try walking the Cheonggyecheon stream in the evening or grab a seat at a cafe in Ikseon-dong where the narrow alleys actually funnel air through. The subway here is also solid but Tokyo's system has better AC coverage, so you'll be trading one discomfort for another.

ngl you're not really escaping the heat by switching to Seoul. late august here is still brutal, usually mid 80s with humidity that hits you like a wall. Tokyo might actually feel slightly more manageable because of better AC infrastructure everywhere. if you do come here, plan your days around indoor stuff in the afternoon and hit places like Bukchon or the Han River parks early morning or after sunset. the evening breeze along the river can be decent

Honestly, it's not much better. Both cities are basically a steam bath at that time. You might get a tiny bit less humidity in Seoul, but you're still gonna be sweating the second you step outside.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
