Now it'll be me, husband and 2 year old, so looking at airbnbs. What location is best?
I loved hongdae for the shopping and… Last time I went to seoul was 2019 and we stayed in yeouido at the Conrad.

seoul forest area is worth a look tbh. the park itself is huge with a butterfly house and deer feeding which is perfect for a 2 year old, and the airbnbs around there tend to be in newer buildings with elevators and parking if you rent a car. also the subway line there connects to hongdae in like 20 mins so you can still do your shopping trips while the kid naps in the stroller
hongdae is still solid especially with a kid since it's walkable and has tons of food options but honestly with a 2 year old i'd look at seongsu or even parts of hapjeong. seongsu has way more cafes with actual space for strollers and the playgrounds near seoul forest are great. hapjeong is quieter than hongdae but still close enough to walk there in 15 mins and the airbnbs tend to be bigger for the same price
honestly yeouido is pretty dead at night compared to what ur used to. maybe check out mangwon instead, it's chill with a kid but still has a good cafe scene and easy access to the han river park for walks

The guide is solid, but one thing I'd add is that if you're landing at Terminal 2, the AREX Express actually starts there and stops at Terminal 1 before heading to Seoul Station. A lot of people don't realize that and end up waiting for the wrong train. Also, for the limousine bus, the 6015 to Myeongdong is great but traffic on the way in can turn that 60-minute ride into 90 minutes easily, especially on Friday afternoons.
yeah the guide covers it well but one thing i'd mention is that if you're traveling with a group of 3 or 4, a regular taxi from the airport to central seoul can actually be cheaper per person than the express train and way more convenient. split 60k won four ways and it's only 15k each, plus no hauling luggage through the station. just make sure they use the meter or you'll get ripped off
