Good evening, I will be arriving to Seoul on Monday the 20th and am looking for any language exchange event or meet that is happening this week!

It's my first time in South Korea so I'm excited to meet new friends and learn anything I can!

I'm in my Mid 20s so if anyone knows any bars or groups that host these gatherings, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time!

there's a good one on thursday at a place called The Lounge in Gangnam, near exit 4 of gangnam station. it's run by a guy who does structured 1-on-1 rotations so you actually talk to everyone there, not just stick to one person. starts at 8pm and they ask for a 5,000 won drink minimum. not as rowdy as the hongdae thing if that's not your vibe

honestly the Hongdae Global Gathering is solid but if you want something more lowkey try the HBC Language Exchange on Tuesday night at Craft Beer Pub near the Noksapyeong exit. it's a smaller group but people are super welcoming and the owner speaks both languages so it helps when u get stuck. they start around 7:30 and it's free just gotta buy a drink. also tbh the Station 9 one in Jongno is decent but HBC has a better vibe for first timers imo

Check out the Hongdae Global Gathering on Wednesday evening at The Booth near Sangsu station. It starts around 7 and draws a pretty mixed crowd of locals and travelers, mostly mid-20s. Fair warning it can get packed so show up a bit early if you want a seat. Also there's a smaller thing on Thursday at a cafe in Itaewon called Seoul Language Exchange, they're more chill and do themed tables by language level.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
