Has anyone stayed at the Friendly DH Naissance Hotel by Mindrum group and could help me? Is it by a subway station or anything? It's in Dongsomun-Ro in Seongbuk-gu

Some reviews mention it's close to a metro station, but I can't find any information on this or how to see what the distance would be to each place I'm planning on going.

When I check Apple Maps and Google Maps, nothing is shown about a subway. The only things it shows me is how far it would be to walk (a very long time) or drive (30ish minutes.) I don't have a car and I can't walk for hours, so a subway is needed. Would this be walking distance to one?

During my trip to Seoul I'm hoping to visit Gyeongboxgung Palace, Bukhansan National Park, some museums, and the Myeongdong Night Market. Is this hotel's location okay for that?

The existing replies covered the subway access well, so I'll add a different angle. I actually walked from that hotel to Hansung University station last month to meet a friend, and it's closer to 12 minutes than 10 if you're not a fast walker. There's a small GS25 convenience store right near the hotel entrance which is handy for water and snacks before heading out.

For Bukhansan, you're better off taking bus 153 from outside Hansung University station directly to the Bukhansan entrance. It takes about 25 minutes and drops you closer than the subway would. The bus stop is literally a two minute walk from the station exit.

One thing nobody mentioned is that Dongsomun-ro itself has a decent stretch of restaurants and a few cafes about five minutes south of the hotel. Nothing trendy or Instagrammable, just solid Korean places where locals eat. The dwaeji gukbap place two blocks down is worth trying if you're into pork soup.

yeah so that hotel is near Hansung University station on line 4, about a 10-15 min walk. google maps in korea is notoriously bad for transit info, use Naver Map or KakaoMap instead they'll show u the walking route to the station

honestly line 4 is pretty solid for what u want. it goes straight to Gyeongbokgung and Myeongdong without transfers. Bukhansan is a bit trickier tho u'd prob take the bus from Gireum station which is like 2 stops north on line 4

the location is fine for museums and markets but if u plan on doing a lot of late night stuff in Hongdae or Gangnam itll feel like a trek. Myeongdong is about 20 min by subway which isnt bad. for Bukhansan u'd wanna leave early anyway since the hike takes hours

tbh the bigger issue is that area is pretty residential with not much going on at night. couple convenience stores and some local restaurants but not much else. if ur trip is mostly sightseeing and u dont mind the 10-15 min walk to the station its workable

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!
arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
