honestly the area right around Bukchon is a bit of a tourist trap for food, most spots charge Anguk prices for average stuff. walk 10 min toward Samcheong-dong instead, there's a ton of good places along the main road there. for a proper sit down meal try Tosokchon for samgyetang, it's a bit west near Gyeongbokgung station but worth the walk. if u want something quick and cheap the little dumpling shops tucked in the alleys off Bukchon-ro 5-gil are solid too.

If you want to eat where locals actually go, head down toward Anguk Station exit 2 and look for the small gukbap places on the side streets. There's one on the corner of Yulgok-ro 3-gil that does a proper beef bone soup for around 10,000 won, no English menu but the staff will help you out. Tosokchon gets all the attention but I prefer the quieter spots for everyday meals. For something a bit nicer, the hanok converted cafes around Jae-dong serve decent set lunches, though expect to pay 15,000 to 20,000 won.

The sit down spots get all the talk but the real move around Bukchon is grabbing food at the snack counters. There's a small stall on Bukchon-ro near the intersection with Samcheong-ro 5-gil doing hotteok and twigim in the afternoons, cheap enough to eat while you wander. For an actual meal I'd point you to the jjimdak places behind Anguk, the ones on the lane running off Changdeokgung-gil, portions are huge and it's around 12,000 won per person. One thing to know, most kitchens in this pocket close between 3 and 5 in the afternoon so plan around that or you'll be stuck with convenience store food.

Coming from Haebangchon, take line 6 to Itaewon then walk up, taxi is only like 6,000 won though. Skip the scones honestly, they're dry. Order the first flush darjeeling a la carte and a slice of their matcha roll.
