Can Let's Run Park accommodate around 1,000,000 people such as a Papal mass/overnight vigil?

Or are there some places outside of Seoul that could do so akin to a campground? Or are there some places outside of Seoul that could do so akin to a campground?

the 2014 visit actually used gwanghwamun plaza plus the stretch down to sejong-daero, and they closed the whole corridor. still not a real million seated, more like everyone standing shoulder to shoulder on asphalt. the thing people forget is infrastructure: toilets, water, medical, that's what caps these events way before land area does. for an overnight vigil u need somewhere with power and drainage, which rules out most empty fields. saemangeum has the flat ground but zero shade and it's a wind tunnel, i'd hate to be there overnight in august

Let's Run Park is the old Seoul Racecourse in Gwacheon, capacity figures I've seen thrown around are like 30-40k for the actual grandstand area, nowhere near a million. For something like a papal mass you're really looking at places like Seoul Plaza or Gwanghwamun, which is what they used in 2014 for the big gathering, and even that was more like 800k crammed in rather than a proper seated million. If you want the campground vibe outside Seoul, the obvious one is the World Scout Jamboree site in Saemangeum, or the old Olympic venues out in the provinces, but honestly none of them are built for a million either, you'd be stringing together multiple sites.

Worth flagging that the actual 1984 and 1989 papal visits didn't try for a single site at that scale. John Paul II's 1984 mass was at Yeouido Plaza, and the crowd estimates were in the hundreds of thousands, not a million, with people spread across the island. Yeouido Park plus the plaza and the riverside gives you a lot more usable ground than Gwanghwamun because it's flat and already has the road network for buses. If you genuinely needed a million for an overnight vigil, you'd probably be looking at splitting it across Yeouido and the Han River parks with shuttle buses, which is ugly logistics but more realistic than finding one field.

The place was PACKED, like seriously wall-to-wall people. I managed to snag a spot at the bar and ordered their legendary spicy soy garlic wings, holy moly, they were incredible. The crunch, the flavor...it was a flavor explosion. But here's the thing: I saw the owner, this super chill dude, whispering to a staff member about some "special sauce." I'm dying to know... what's the secret ingredient in that insane sauce?!

the whispering thing is real but its not about the sauce lol. that guy runs a 2am handoff with the chicken supplier, they drop off fresh birds from a farm near Chuncheon three times a week instead of using the frozen stuff most hongdae spots rely on. thats why the texture hits different, not the sauce itself. if u go back ask for the neck & wing combo off menu, its cheaper & honestly the best cut they do

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

the thing nobody mentions is that Dogdogdog's sauce gets its body from cheong, the Korean rice syrup, not sugar. thats why it coats the wing so thick and stays glossy instead of going sticky. i asked a guy who worked there and he said they also add a splash of maesil (plum) extract at the end off the heat. that fruity tang under the garlic is what you're tasting. go on a weekday before 6, weekends the wait hits 40 min easy.

honestly the "secret sauce" thing is prob just marketing. every fried chicken place in Seoul has a version of that story. the real difference at Dogdogdog is they double fry in rice bran oil and toss the wings in the sauce twice, once right out of the fryer and again after a 30 sec rest. thats where the crunch comes from, not some mystery ingredient. if u wanna taste the actual base, order the banban half plain half spicy and dip the plain one in the spicy sauce yourself.
