solid write up, pretty much nailed it. one thing i'd add is that for the best obwarzanek you gotta find the cart near the corner of florianska and plac matejki, not the ones by the cloth hall. they're usually still warm from the oven around 10am and the sesame ones are the best.
also for budget eats, bar mleczny under the cloth hall itself is a hidden gem. the one on the ground floor near the entrance to the museum, not the touristy one upstairs. you can get a full plate of pierogi and a compote for like 15 zloty and it's where the shop workers eat lunch. cash only though, be warned
nice list, really covers the bases. one thing i'd throw in is that if you're near the main square and want a quick legit meal, skip the tourist traps on grodzka and walk two minutes to ul. Εw. Anny 5 where there's this tiny kebab spot called Kebab King. sounds generic but it's been there for years and the owner makes his own bread, the meat's always fresh. 18 zloty for a massive wrap and it's open till like 3am on weekends, perfect after a few beers
also for the sweet stuff, i know everyone raves about camelot but honestly the best apple pie in town is at Mural on ul. Szeroka in kazimierz. they do this warm slice with vanilla ice cream and it's like 12 zloty, the crust is super flaky. it's more of a bar vibe so you can grab a beer with it too, which is a nice combo
great list, really thorough. one thing that's missing is the soup game - krakow does amazing soups that nobody talks about enough. go to mazaya pierogarnia on ul. krowoderska 52, they do a sour rye soup (ΕΌurek) served in a bread bowl for like 18 zloty. it's thick and smoky with egg and sausage, way better than the watered down versions at tourist spots
also for a totally different vibe, check out vegab on ul. karmelicka 10. it's this tiny vegan place run by a husband and wife team, they do these massive plates of curry and pad thai for under 25 zloty. doesn't look like much from the street but the portions are huge and the flavors are legit. cash only and they close at 7pm sharp so get there early
Best photo spots in Krakow?
honestly just wander around Kazimierz at sunrise, the light on those old synagogues is unreal and there's almost nobody around. also if you head up to Kopiec Kosciuszki the view over the whole city is solid, especially when the fog rolls in off the river
For old town shots, climb the tower of Kosciol Mariacki for a view straight down the Rynek, but you'll need to time it right with the trumpet call. Along the river, try the footbridge next to the Wawel Castle at golden hour, the reflections on the Wisla are tough to beat. A hidden gem is the Podgorze side near the old Jewish ghetto, specifically the area around Plac Bohaterow Getta, where you can frame the bridges and the factory skyline in one shot.
