Jay Shri Khodiyar in Karachi, worth a visit in 2026?

fmd_goodJay Shri Khodiyar · #vegetarian
Staying near the airport for a couple nights next month and Jay Shri Khodiyar keeps coming up. Is it a vegetarian thali kind of place, and what's a fair price for two? Any idea if they're open late on… Staying near the airport for a couple nights next month and Jay Shri Khodiyar keeps coming up. Last time I was through, the Gujarati set meal ran about 1,200 to 1,500 rupees for two, and it's a proper sit-down spot rather than a quick counter. It's a fair schlep from the airport side, so factor in the ride.

Ride from the airport's a good 45 min in traffic

good to know on the price & the sit-down thing. was it cash only when u went or do they take cards. asking cuz i never carry enough these days

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Thali yes, but weekend hours vary. Call ahead.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Agreed on calling ahead. Worth asking whether they do the full festive menu on Saturdays or just the regular one, since that changes the price a fair bit. Ask about the sweet dish too, sometimes it's extra.

Second this, Sundays they shut by nine.

Bhagwat Bhawan Atithi Gruh: what should I expect in 2026?

fmd_goodBhagwat Bhawan Atithi Gruh - Narayan Sarovar Annakshetra · #rooms #narayansarovar #annakshetra
I'm planning a trip to Narayan Sarovar and considering staying at Bhagwat Bhawan Atithi Gruh. What are the rooms and the annakshetra meals actually like, and is it worth booking ahead for 2026? Ask for the ground-floor rooms, quieter.

Second this, upper floors get the temple bells at dawn.

Ground floor also dodges the water pump racket at 5am.

arrow_drop_up -7 arrow_drop_down

Upper floors catch the aarti loudspeaker too.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Rooms are basic but clean, and the annakshetra serves simple Gujarati thali; book ahead for 2026 since Kartik Purnima fills the place fast.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Worth adding that the thali is served around 11am and 7pm sharp, so plan your darshan around those windows or you'll miss it. I'd also confirm by phone a week before, since walk-ins sometimes get turned away during fair season.

arrow_drop_up 15 arrow_drop_down

Fair season also means the trust office only answers between 9 and 11 in the morning, so call early.

arrow_drop_up 9 arrow_drop_down

The phone line is only staffed mornings, so call between 9 and 11 or you'll just get the engaged tone.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah booking ahead is smart, though fwiw the real crunch is Diwali and Annakut, not just the fair. Last time i visited teh dharamshala was full a month out. Rooms are fine but dont expect hot water before 6.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Booking ahead makes sense but the trust usually opens reservations only a couple months out, so don't expect a 2026 slot confirmed right now. Also carry your own bedsheet and a mug, they're not always provided.
