carry your original lease or hotel booking plus a letter from whoever you're staying with, that's the bit people forget & it slows the file down. also keep 3 or 4 spare photos, they always want one more than u brought
go to the dgip office on shahrah e faisal not nadra, nadra handles id stuff only. they usually want photos passport copies & a written request, onward ticket helps but isn't always asked. i'd say go early morning, queues get brutal by 10

Agree on the early start, though the written request should be typed and signed, not handwritten, they turned away the guy ahead of me for that. Keep a copy of your entry stamp separate from the passport copy, they stapled mine and asked for another.
Photos need to be passport size, not the small ones.
Second this, onward ticket rarely checked there.
Bring photocopies of your passport photo page, visa, and entry stamp plus two passport photos, and expect to pay a fee at the counter.
Add a typed cover letter listing your address and reason for staying, since they'll ask for it at the counter.

Is Jat Tea House in Karachi worth a visit in 2026?
I only know it from visits, but the bun maska is what I'd go back for, more than the chai honestly. Weekday mornings around 8 are calm and the parathas are still hot. Parking on the side street is a nightmare though.
Bun maska sells out by 9:30 sharp
went last year and teh chai is solid but go before 5pm, after that the crowd gets mad.
yeah 4:30 on a friday is already pushing it
Their seating upstairs fills faster than the downstairs room, so aim for the earlier side of the afternoon. Ask for the chai without extra sugar and you'll taste why people bother.
