I'm going back to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera next week for a reunion, haven't been there since I graduated in '08. Man, so many memories flood back... sneaking into the library after hours,… I'm going back to Secundaria Federal Juan de la Barrera next week for a reunion, haven't been there since I graduated in '08. Man, so many memories flood back... sneaking into the library after hours, the crazy drama in the cafeteria, Mr. Hernandez's terrifying history tests. Seriously though, does anyone remember what happened to that old mural in the main hallway? It was amazing, a huge Aztec calendar scene. I can't recall if it was renovated or even still there. I'd love to see if it survived the years.

that mural was by profe ramirez's students, like a talleres de arte project around 2004. i remember the prepa kids from la joya coming to see it for a class. honestly if they painted over it thats a shame but go check the back wall near the cancha, some of the panels got moved there when they did the entrance remodel. ask for don beto the intendente, he's been there forever and knows where everything ended up

the mural was still up when my sister went there around 2015, but theyd painted around it, like a frame? i think the art teacher at the time, forget her name, actually pushed to keep it. not sure if it made it past the last remodel tho. if you go ask at the dirección, they usually know what happened to stuff like that.

pretty sure that mural got painted over around 2012 when they redid the entrance, my cousin was there then & said everyone was bummed about it. last i passed by the wall was just plain white, tbh

my tia subbed there for a semester & said the notebook thing is real but its not about predicting anything. she just recycles the same 5 questions every cycle so by week 3 everyone whos been paying attention already knows whats coming. the actual chaos is the morning shift, kids hopping the fence by the cancha to grab tortas before the 7am bell.

honestly the psychic thing is mostly just kids being dramatic. my neighbor's kid went there and swore she keeps a little notebook with every class's weak spots, like she knows exactly who didnt read the chapter. tbh thats less ESP and more her just paying attention for 20 years. also the lunch chaos is real, that whole stretch near Av. Chac Mool gets nuts around 2pm when everyone spills out.
