Arsgan House Mystery?

if its the place im thinking of off the ruta de los cenotes, that faded photo is prob from the original owners. back in the 70s a german couple ran a small guesthouse out that way, catering to scuba divers before the big resorts took over. they vanished from records around '85, and locals say they just packed up one day. the chalet style tracks with that, lots of europeans built alpine-looking places to feel less homesick. you could dig through old dive shop ledgers in Puerto Morelos, some of the older operators kept guest logs that mention that stretch.

arsgan house is on the road toward Puerto Morelos, right? if its teh one im thinking of, that stretch has a few old casas that predate the hotel zone boom. the smell you couldnt place might be copal, they still burn it in some of the older properties around there for ceremonies. i'd skip the tourism board and ask at the mercado in Leona Vicario instead, the older vendors know way more about that area than any office does.

not sure about the name itself but "arsgan" sounds like a mangled spelling of a maya surname, maybe Arzán or something hispanicized. records around here get butchered constantly, especially anything typed by hand in the 60s, so the place might be filed under a totally different name.

honestly your best move is the archivo general in Merida or the parroquia records in Valladolid, they keep baptism and land books going back way further than Cancun does since this whole strip was basically nothing before 1970. a chalet with a family photo and real history behind it would show up in a notarial record somewhere.

the other thing, that "something else" smell could just be the cenote sulfur if there's one on the property. lots of those old lots sit right on top of one and the whole place gets that damp mineral thing going. anyway good luck, this one's a proper puzzle.

my tia subbed there for a semester & said the notebook thing is real but its not about predicting anything. she just recycles the same 5 questions every cycle so by week 3 everyone whos been paying attention already knows whats coming. the actual chaos is the morning shift, kids hopping the fence by the cancha to grab tortas before the 7am bell.

honestly the psychic thing is mostly just kids being dramatic. my neighbor's kid went there and swore she keeps a little notebook with every class's weak spots, like she knows exactly who didnt read the chapter. tbh thats less ESP and more her just paying attention for 20 years. also the lunch chaos is real, that whole stretch near Av. Chac Mool gets nuts around 2pm when everyone spills out.
