i'd add that the hiking trails at Michiru Mountain are marked but some of the signs are faded or missing, so if you're not with a guide grab a map from the forestry office near the base before you go. the view from the top is worth the scramble, especially around 4 PM when the light hits the tea estates just right
for a different evening option, the coffee shop at the Soche Inn on Glyn Jones Road has a quiet patio where you can sit with a book or just watch the bats come out over the city. their espresso is decent for malawi and runs about 1,500 MWK

honestly this is a solid itinerary, you hit most of the key spots. one thing i'd add is that the botanical gardens are way nicer early morning around 6am when it's quiet and the light is soft for photos. i went once at 10am and it was already packed with school groups
also for day 3, if you're at limbe market try to find the woman selling fresh sugarcane juice near the fabric stalls. she's been there for years. costs like MWK 200 a cup and it's a lifesaver on a hot afternoon. way better than anything bottled
one tiny correction - the museum entry is actually MWK 2,500 now, they raised it last year. still worth it though, the colonial history section is surprisingly detailed

also if you have an extra morning the hike up soche hill behind the sunbird hotel is worth it, takes like 40 mins and you get a killer view of the whole city. just watch out for the monkeys near the top they'll totally try to steal your snack
fwiw the clock tower area is a good anchor point but theres a much better view of it from the top of the old post office building across the street. the security guard usually lets you up the stairs if you ask nicely, its free and you can see the whole market spread out below
for the botanical gardens i'd skip the main entrance path and go around the back near the soccer field. theres a hidden trail that leads to a little stream with these massive old figs, barely anyone goes there. bring mosquito spray though its swampy back there
the 21 grill is fine but their lunch menu is way cheaper than dinner, same quality half the price. i do their chicken schnitzel for like MWK 6,000 and its plenty of food
