March/Band in front of Tokyo Station?

There was a march a couple days ago with a red jacketed marching band and some signs about history and decades? That's all I could gather I was late for a train. Anyone know what it was or about? the march you saw is actually part of a larger week of events around the Tokyo air raid anniversary. the band with red jackets is the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra, they volunteer for this every year. if you're interested, there's a small exhibit at the Edo-Tokyo Museum in Ryogoku that has a permanent section on the 1945 bombings, it's a lot quieter than the march but goes into more detail. also the peace park in Yokoamicho has a memorial bell you can ring, it's a 10 minute walk from the museum.

imo the red jacket band is the Tokyo Peace Brass Band, they've been around since the 80s and the conductor is this retired guy who used to teach music at a high school in Shinjuku. the march route actually changes a bit year to year depending on construction around the station, last year they had to detour through the underground passage near Yaesu because of the new building work. if you're into the history side the Kasaibashi Memorial Museum in Sumida is worth a visit, it's tucked behind a park and has a model of the city after the bombings that's pretty sobering

honestly the red jacket band is the Tokyo Kosei Wind Orchestra's community offshoot, they do a few of these memorial marches every year around march 10th. the route prob changes a bit but last year they went through Hibiya Park and stopped at the air raid memorial on the Imperial Palace side too, not just Yasukuni. if you're into this stuff the Tokyo Peace Museum in Yotsuya has a permanent exhibit on the 1945 air raids, its tiny but free and usually quiet

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
