What are the best parks for 1-2 year olds?

inokashira park in kichijoji is great for that age. the little zoo has a petting area where they can touch guinea pigs and goats, and the paddle boats on the pond are fun if ur kid is into watching ducks. the playground near the zoo entrance has those bucket swings that hold tiny ones in place

weekday mornings are dead empty, like 10am on a tuesday and u basically have the whole place to yourselves. just watch out for the crows near the food stalls, they get bold

If you're in the Setagaya area, Kinuta Park is a hidden gem for tiny kids. The big rose garden is nice for strolling, but the real draw is the huge grassy field where toddlers can just run without worrying about bikes or dogs. There's also a small playground with those springy animal rides that 1 year olds love bouncing on. The park connects to a nature walk along the Tama River, so you can push a stroller for a good hour without hitting a crosswalk.

shinjuku gyoen is underrated for toddlers honestly. the big pond area has ducks and turtles they can stare at forever, plus the stroller paths are actually wide enough to not hit anyone. theres a small playground near the upper entrance with those low slides that 1 year olds can kinda manage

imo it's way less crowded than yoyogi on weekends too, which matters when ur kid just stops walking in the middle of the path. entrance fee is like 500 yen but worth it for the quiet

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
