I usually hit the one near the station after work but the closing times seem to keep shifting. Would rather not haul groceries across town if there's a closer option.

seiyu shinjuku pepe, 1am most nights

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Their meat counter is usually picked clean by then, so go earlier if you want anything decent.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Closes at 11 on Sundays though

yeah but the basement food floor there shuts earlier, like 10pm, so go up to the main grocery level for late stuff

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Pepe's second-floor entrance off the Yasukuni-dori side, easier late.

don quijote kabukicho, open till 5

Worth knowing the Pepe building itself locks up around 11, so use the street-level elevator on the west side after that.

The Shinjuku Foodland by the station closes at midnight now, but the Maruetsu Petit near Shinjuku-sanchome stays open 24 hours if that helps.

Image elselotte local ·

maruetsu petit sanchome is solid but the sanchome stn exit side one is smaller, go the other entrance for a fuller shelf

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Good tip on the entrance. I've found the shelves back by the dairy stay stocked longer than the front ones.

Best tea experience near Camellia House in 2026?

Is it worth booking a proper tea session there, or should I look at other tea spots nearby? Any idea what a tasting costs and whether I need to reserve ahead?

honestly if u want something quieter, try Chazen in Ebisu for sencha, around 3,000 yen and walk-ins usually fine on weekdays.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down
Image felizitas local ·

Chazen's solid but the sencha flight is closer to 4,000 now, they bumped it last autumn. Weekday afternoons before 3pm are your best bet, the counter gets tight after that. Skip Sundays entirely, it's chaos.

Second this, the 2pm seating is the quiet one.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image mirjam local ·

fair point on the price bump, and fwiw the 1pm slot is even calmer than 2 if u can swing it

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Matcha at the Ebisu location runs steeper than sencha, and the upstairs seats go first on rainy days.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Weekday mornings before noon, that's the quiet window.

Ippodo Marunouchi, opens 10

Toraya Akasaka, go before 11am.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Yeah getting there early is key, but they close on the second Wednesday of each month i think, worth checking before u go.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Camellia House runs a solid matcha tasting, but I'd walk ten minutes to Sakurai Japanese Tea Experience in Aoyama instead, the counter seats are worth reserving a week out. Expect around 5,000 to 8,000 yen per person. Book ahead either way, spring fills fast.
