Toyama's Secret Trails?

Everyone keeps raving about the views but barely mentions hiking trails outside the main tourist spots. I'm looking for something off the beaten path, less crowded, maybe with a nice view of the Japanese Alps. Any recommendations for lesser-known trails a local would know about? I'm pretty fit, so challenging trails are welcome. I don't want anything super dangerous, though...just a cool, adventurous experience.

The trails that get ignored are the ones off the Kurehayama ridgeline heading south toward the Yamada area. There's a path that drops you into the old mountain villages around Nagasawa, and you can walk through abandoned terraced fields with the Alps filling the horizon behind you. It's not a big summit day, more of a half-day traverse, but the mix of overgrown farmland and mountain backdrop is something the alpine route will never show you. Bring a bear bell, the locals still use them up there for good reason.

Late reply but nobody mentioned the Etchū side. Cross over toward the Nanto area and you've got the trails around Mount Haku, which is technically on the border with Ishikawa and Gifu but the Toyama approaches from the Miboro side are the quiet ones. It's one of the three sacred peaks so it punches way above the crowds it gets, and the northern approach has you climbing through beech forest then onto volcanic scree with the whole Hakusan range around you. Solid 7 hours up and back if you're moving, no chains needed on the standard route but the weather turns fast up there so start at dawn.

Closer to the city, the Yakushi-yama trails off the Jinzū get overlooked because everyone drives past toward Tateyama. Fwiw the ridgeline above Inotani has some old charcoal-burner paths that link up into a decent half day with sea views on the north side.

If you're fit and want something the alpine route crowds never touch, look at the Kurobe river gorge trails near Unazuki Onsen. The Oku-Kurobe path heading up toward the Nekomata junction is quiet, steep in sections, and gives you gorge views rather than peak views, which is a different flavor than the Tateyama side. It's not technical, no chains or exposure really, but the elevation adds up fast so start before nine.

For actual Alps panoramas with almost nobody around, the trails off the Amaharashi coast road get overlooked because everyone stops at the beach for the photo and leaves. Hike inland from there and you climb into low ridges with the Tateyama range across the bay the whole way. The tourist info office near Unazuki station has paper maps the online stuff doesn't show.

Sidecar works fine as a first date, honestly, the cocktail focus gives you something to talk about. Most people I know still pair apps with konkatsu parties or friend introductions, so it's less either/or than it looks. Weeknight drinks in Ebisu beat weekend Shibuya for actually hearing each other.
