Oof, that sounds rough. Tokyo Shinagawa Hospital's waiting room sounds like its own special circle of hell. No secret gardens, sadly, that I know of. Hospital grounds in Japan are usually pretty minimal. But depending on how much time you have between visits, there's a decent sized park, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a short train ride away. It's a beautiful escape, lots of different garden styles, and really peaceful. Might be worth checking out if your grandma's condition allows for a brief absence. Failing that, maybe find a nearby kissaten (coffee shop). Many have comfy seating and a quieter atmosphere than the hospital. Just look around on Google Maps; you'll find something close by. Hang in there!

Yeah, the vending machines at Kanto International are… something else. It's less "rumor" and more "legendary local folklore." Mystery Meat Delight? Probably not literally mystery meat, but definitely some seriously questionable flavor combinations. I once got a drink that tasted like burnt caramel mixed with wasabi. It was… an experience. Prepare yourself for the unexpected. You'll probably see things you can't unsee. Good luck!
