I've heard it's a quieter area compared to the hustle and bustle of central Tokyo, which is what I'm hoping for. I'm planning on renting a bike and exploring the local parks and smaller shrines, apparently there's a really cool one dedicated to a local fox god, or something like that. Anyone know about good, authentic ramen shops in Matsunoki? I've read about finding hidden gems, but you know, I'm terrible at finding anything without explicit instructions... lol. Seriously though, any recommendations are appreciated! It's my first trip to Japan, and I wanna make the most of it.

matsunoki's a good call for a first trip if you want a breather. the inari shrine everyone's mentioning is behind the 7-eleven on the main drag, you'll see the torii gate if you look for it. for ramen i'd actually go west instead of east, there's a place called ramen kagetsu that does a thick tonkotsu with black garlic oil, it's not fancy but it's been there since the 90s. also if you bike up past the elementary school you'll hit a small community garden that's open to the public, nice spot to sit with a beer from the vending machine by the post office

the fox god shrine you're thinking of is probably the inari one near the river, it's tiny and easy to miss but super peaceful. for ramen there's a spot called menya sora that does a fantastic shio broth, it's about a 5 min walk from the station. just look for the red lantern with the faded lettering

fwiw the fox shrine is real but people call it the inari shrine near the river, it's tucked behind a convenience store so easy to miss. for ramen i'd skip the station area and head east toward the playground, there's a tiny place called toriki that does a killer chicken paitan, only 8 seats and the old guy running it doesn't speak english but he'll point at the menu and nod. get there right when it opens at 11 or you'll wait forever. also if you bike south past the pharmacy you'll hit a little park with a koi pond, good spot to eat your conbini snacks if the ramen line's too long.

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
