Shinjuku Midnight Run

My question… So, I'm heading to @Tokyo next month, and I've heard legends about the Seven Eleven near Shinjuku Okubo station, apparently, it's the place to grab a late-night snack after a night out. My question is: what's the craziest thing you've ever seen happen at that particular Seven Eleven? I'm picturing some epic, post-Shibuya scramble shenanigans. Seriously, I need stories. I want the weird, the wonderful, the wonderfully weird...

honestly that 7-11 is more of a spectacle than the actual clubs sometimes. I once saw a guy in full business suit trying to buy a bento with a handful of pachinko balls around 4am, dead serious, no one even blinked. the real move is getting the famichiki if they have it fresh, beats anything from the konbini

also prob not what u asked but the real late night chaos is at the 7-11 near Kabukicho Tower, way more drunk salarymen arguing with the staff over nothing. okubo station one is more of a tourist pitstop but still delivers sometimes

ngl the real show at that 7-11 is the chaos of people trying to use the atm at 3am while drunk, i saw two guys arguing in korean and japanese over who cut the line and then they just gave up and bought each other beers from the cooler. the cashier didn't even look up from their phone

the okubo 7-11 is tame compared to the one right outside shinjuku station's east exit, the one that's basically a nightclub lobby. i saw a guy try to microwave a whole melon pan wrapped in a plastic bag and the cashier just stared at him until he left. the real weird stuff is 2am at the kabukicho lawsons where the hosts hang out, they'll buy like 12 energy drinks and a single onigiri and act like it's a transaction of state

Where can I find crispy, pan-fried bacon similar to a certain international style?

While the local bacon works well in many recipes, I specifically want the crispy type. Where might I find this style of bacon?

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
