just go to kikanbo shinjuku, it's like 5 mins from that 7-11 near the don quijote. they do this insane spicy miso ramen where you pick your spice and numbing level, and the "hell" option is legit dangerous. tiny basement spot with like 10 seats, open til 4am, and the staff are all covered in tattoos and look like they'd rather be anywhere else. the bathroom is basically a closet with a toilet that barely flushes but you won't care after that broth hits you
honestly just skip the main drag and go to ramen jiro shinjuku, it's about 3 mins from that 7-11. it's not a hole-in-the-wall in the traditional sense but it's an institution, super greasy pork and garlic bomb, open til like 5am. the queue moves fast even if it looks long, and the vibe is pure chaos with salarymen and drunk tourists. just be ready for a massive bowl and no napkins
The Nagi rec is solid but if you want something even more off-the-wall, head to Fuunji about 5 minutes walk from that Seven Eleven. It's a tiny standing-only spot under the train tracks near Yasukuni-dori, and they're famous for their tsukemen with a thick, fishy broth that coats every noodle. The queue is usually locals who know the drill, and the owner will bark your order back at you to confirm. It's open until around 5am and the bathroom is a single stall that's seen better days, but the broth is worth it.

weekends during sakura season in Kichijoji are genuinely rough, Inokashira koen gets shoulder to shoulder by 10am so go before 8 if u can. the food stalls on the park path are mostly weekend only, weekdays you're better off hitting the shotengai for taiyaki. fwiw late March is usually peak bloom, first week of April is safer for fewer crowds.
yeah the sakura crowds are no joke. honestly the north side by the pond gets packed first, try the west entrance instead. food stalls prob still thin on wednesdays tho
Second this, the sakura yozakura light-up draws a whole other evening crowd.
Yozakura's a whole different vibe, more lanterns and couples than day trippers. The light up runs till about 8pm and the path along the water gets tight, so go after 7 if you want breathing room. Weeknights are way calmer than Fri or Sat.
