Is there a British notary public available in the Greater Tokyo area?

I need to find notarial services for a British Citizen and the organization requesting the documents won't allow a non-British notary. I need to find notarial services for a British Citizen and the organization requesting the documents won't allow a non-British notary.

not sure if this helps but there's a shihoshoshi in shinagawa who advertises as a "british document specialist" on his english website. i found him through a friend doing uk probate work and he was meticulous about the wording, even caught a small issue with how my name was formatted. his office is near shinagawa station konan exit, about 12,000 yen for a standard affidavit. he's not a notary public in the uk sense but japanese shihoshoshi can do the equivalent for foreign documents, your organisation might need to confirm they accept that

try the tokyo bar association's international committee referral service, they'll match u with a shihoshoshi who specifically handles uk documents and they're usually cheaper than the embassy list folks. i paid 8,500 yen for a simple affidavit through one they recommended near jiyugaoka, took about 25 minutes. just email them in english and they'll send u three names with their specialties, way less hassle than calling around blind

The British Embassy in Tokyo doesn't provide notarial services directly, but they maintain a list of local notaries who are authorized to handle British documents. You'll want to contact the embassy's consular section and ask for their current list of approved notaries in the Tokyo area. I know a few people have used a notary in Minato-ku near the embassy who specifically handles British documents, though you'll need to call ahead to confirm they're available for your specific paperwork. Expect to pay around 10,000 to 15,000 yen per document.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
