Hi fellow redditors :) I live in Tokyo and I would love to join someone to go on both Aug 17 and 18.

If anyone is going, message me! This is my 3rd year after going for the 1st time in 2022 in Osaka and 2nd time in Tokyo. Super excited about OneRepublic, Christina Aguilera and Fiji Blue but I'm down to listen to new acts!

I'm a girl, 25 btw. I'm very outgoing so I can make friends easily. :) hit me up if you want to form a gang!

if you've got a suica card loaded up, the keiyo line from kaihinmakuhari back to tokyo station is like 20 mins and runs late enough that you don't have to stress about the last train thing. i usually hang back on the grass near the rainbow seats for the final act then mosey over to the station around 10:15 and it's fine.

the marine stage sound is way better than the mountain stage for vocals, so christina should be solid. also if you're into fiji blue check out the sonic stage around 4pm on sunday - there's usually a chill indie act that fits that vibe. the tent gets hot af though so bring a handheld fan or just stand near the side entrance where the breeze comes through.

Summer Sonic's gotten pretty crowded since they moved to Zozo Marine, but the beach breeze makes up for it. I usually grab a konbini bento and eat on the grass near the Marine Stadium entrance rather than paying festival prices for food. If you want a solid spot for OneRepublic without getting crushed, stake out the left side of the stage about 30 minutes early.

honestly summer sonic at zozo marine is way more chill than the osaka venue in my experience. the crowd vibes are better and you can actually hear the bands from the back without feeling like a sardine. fuji blue is gonna be great live but don't sleep on the smaller dance stage acts around 2pm on saturday - last year i found a random korean indie band there that blew my mind.

the food trucks near the rainbow seats side are a bit overpriced but the takoyaki stand next to the second bar is actually solid and doesn't have a huge line. if you wanna grab a drink before head to the famima on the corner of 357 near kaihinmakuhari station, they have better selection than the conbini closer to the venue.

just a heads up the last train outta kaihinmakuhari gets packed around 10 so either leave a bit early or be ready to wait for a while. ive done the solo thing before and its fine but having a buddy for the wait between sets makes it way better tbh.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
