Hi,

we will be visiting Japan in end of april, we are couple(38M/30F), which do not speak Japanese.

Interesting in visiting Happening bars or some other kinky places, since we are new to scene and Japan looks like more perfetable place to look into kinks.

Any advice for us? I cannot see is Sleeping beauty still working and OK with foreginers.

Also my wife - has tattos is it gonna be an issue?

Sleeping Beauty is still running but they've gotten stricter about foreigners since COVID. You'll need to show passports and they'll likely turn you away if you can't demonstrate basic Japanese understanding at the door.

For a couple starting out, I'd point you toward Club Rouge in Kabukicho instead. It's more foreigner-friendly and the staff speaks enough English to explain the rules. They have a couples rate around 8000 yen and the play areas are cleaner than most happening bars. The tattoo thing is hit or miss but at Rouge they're usually fine as long as it's not full sleeves or yakuza style.

I'd skip the happening bars altogether as a first-timer couple and look into a place like Studio SIX in Asakusa. It's a members-only kink space that's very welcoming to foreigners, and they do orientation sessions in English every couple of months. The tattoo thing is usually fine there, they're more concerned about attitude than ink. You'll want to email them ahead of time to check if their April session lines up with your dates, the 5000 yen membership fee for the night is worth it for the safer environment.

if u have a costco membership the kirkland thick cut is the move, 4 packs of 500g for around 2500 yen and it crisps up proper in a cold pan. for smaller runs, precce in azabudai hills & the basement at isetan shinjuku both carry imported US & danish brands in the chilled case, just read the label for "thick cut" or "smoked" and not "loin". also worth knowing japanese bacon is often wet-cured so pat it dry before frying or it steams instead of crisping

kaldi coffee farm is hit or miss but their smoked bacon from denmark shows up pretty regular, the 200g pack runs about 600 yen. what actually works better for me is asking the butcher counter at peacock or life to slice the block bacon thick, like 5mm, they do it for free and it crisps way better than the pre-packed stuff. also fwiw cheap bacon crisps faster, the fatty supermarket kind at 300 yen a pack works fine if u cook it from cold in a dry pan and pour off the fat as it renders.

tbh the gyomu super store brand bacon is surprisingly decent for crisping up, its not thick cut but if you cook it low and slow it gets pretty crunchy. the key is the dry cure vs wet cure thing, wet cure steams. also check hanamasa if you have one nearby, they sell big packs of american style bacon thats actually smoked and firm.
