南園歩道橋 pedestrian bridge worth a detour in 2026?

Staying near Shin-Imamiya next month and a friend told me to walk the 南園歩道橋 footbridge area at night for the view. Is it actually worth the detour in 2026 or is it just a regular overpass? October, before the bats come out.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

wait what bats, is that an actual seasonal thing there or just a joke about the bridge crowd

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Actual bats, dusk around 5:30.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

they come out over the yamato river side too, so walk the bridge around 5 and you'll catch them over the water

arrow_drop_up 13 arrow_drop_down

south end, past midnight, not before

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yeah past midnight is when the nankai line dies down & you actually get the quiet, but bring a jacket, the wind up there cuts through

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

last train's around 11:40 so midnight is right

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

nankai koya line runs later, check that one

arrow_drop_up 10 arrow_drop_down

the north end dumps u onto a dark side street so walk it toward the park instead, way better exit

arrow_drop_up 14 arrow_drop_down

Honestly the view's fine but the walk from Shin-Imamiya is kinda sketchy at that hour so maybe go with someone.

Shimada Ruins site visits in Osaka 2026?

fmd_good島田遺跡 · #archaeology #ruins #osaka
I'm planning a trip to Osaka in 2026 and came across the Shimada Ruins (島田遺跡). Is it open to the public and worth a visit, or is it mostly an archaeological site with nothing much to see? Shimada Ruins is an excavated site in Higashiosaka with little to see, so I'd skip it and visit the Osaka Museum of History instead.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

The museum's 10th floor reconstruction of the Naniwa Palace is the part actually worth your time.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Their special exhibitions are the real draw.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

second the museum rec, their special exhibits rotate so check the schedule before u go

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Nothing there but a fenced field.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Fair, though the actual excavation finds are mostly reburied or displayed elsewhere, so even the fenced field has little to show.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Agree, though the Kintetsu line stop nearby makes it an easy detour

That stop's a fair walk from the site though

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah pretty much. most of what got dug up there ended up in storage or reburied, so even the fence is more interesting than the ground behind it. if u want actual artifacts from that area, check the small local museums instead.

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

storage is the real tragedy, most of that yayoi pottery sits in boxes nobody visits, ask the folk museum in yaotome if u want to see any of it
