Working remotely from Osaka in 2026: internet and coworking?

fmd_good上津島のクスノキ · #internet #osaka
I'm coming to Osaka for a couple months in 2026 and need to keep working remotely, so how reliable is the internet and are there good coworking spots or cafes where people actually work? Also curious… I'm coming to Osaka for a couple months in 2026 and need to keep working remotely, so how reliable is the internet and are there good coworking spots or cafes where people actually work? Also curious how late I'd need to stay up for calls with Europe or the US. Thinking of staying near Kuzunoki in Kamitsushima, is that too far from the center?

Kuzunoki's fine, 15 min to Umeda on the Midosuji.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Plus a direct line to Shin-Osaka, handy for Kyoto trips

arrow_drop_up 24 arrow_drop_down

Esaka is the better transfer if you're heading north.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Fair point, though Kamitsushima sits a bit east of the station itself, so add five or ten minutes on foot depending on the exact address. The Midosuji gets packed at rush hour, so I'd shift commutes if you can.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Namba, 7-Eleven wifi saved me.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

which 7-Eleven was it, teh one near the station or further in?

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

konbini wifi is fine for email but drops on video calls, get a pocket wifi or a cheap sim from bic camera instead

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

only for backup, fiber at kuzunoki is solid

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Fiber's the norm there, just confirm the building's actually wired before you sign

arrow_drop_up 13 arrow_drop_down

Good backup but too slow for video calls.

How do I get to the Kuzunoki tree in Kozushima?

I'm visiting Osaka in 2026 and want to see the huge kusunoki at Kozushima. Is it easy to reach by train or bus from central Osaka, and is there anything else worth seeing nearby? kozushima is the island in tokyo, not osaka. the giant kusunoki there is on the miyake trail, reachable by ferry from take ria or kurihama then a bus. from osaka that's a shinkansen to tokyo first, so it's a full day each way. if u meant a big camphor in osaka, sumiyoshi taisha has one

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah the kozushima ferry is a long haul from osaka, so sumiyoshi taisha is the realistic pick if they just want a big camphor

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

sumiyoshi taisha's camphor is a good call & easy off the nankai line, yuhigaoka or sumiyoshitaisha station. worth mentioning the kusunoki there is a national natural monument so it's roped off, no touching

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Good point on the rope. the camphor at Sumiyoshi Taisha is the wife tree of a pair with the one at Yao, so if theyre into old trees both are worth a look. Nankai line makes it easy either way

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

You can also reach it from Tengachaya on the Nankai line, one stop sooner than Yuhigaoka. The rope makes sense once you see the trunk, it's hollow and propped with steel inside.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

fair point, but tbh the ferry from Kurihama only runs in season and the trail up to the tree is a decent climb. if theyre going all that way they should budget a night on the island, not a day trip.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Agreed, and book the minshuku early since summer weekends fill months out on that island.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

tbh the whole thing is a trip to Tokyo with a detour, not an Osaka day out. if theyre set on kozushima they should fly Hachijojima then hop over, way less painful than the train plus ferry slog

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Worth adding the Kozushima ferry is seasonal and weather dependent, so build in a spare day wherever you base yourselves.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

The Miike trail actually starts from the port side, not Miyake, so it's about 40 min up through the forest. Bring water, the vending machines stop once you leave town.
