Best day trips from Hamamatsu?

I'm planning a trip to Hamamatsu in about 4 months and looking for good day trip options. Any recommendations for places to visit nearby? I'm planning a trip to Hamamatsu in about 4 months and looking for good day trip options. Any recommendations for places to visit nearby?

honestly the kakegawa castle is a solid option, about 40 mins on the tokkaido line. it's one of the few original wooden castles left in japan, not a concrete rebuild, and the garden next to it is legit. the view from the top over the tea fields is pretty iconic for the area

if you're into sake there's a brewery walking distance from the station too, they do tastings for like 500 yen. way more chill than going all the way to shizuoka city for the same thing

lake hamana is super close, like 30 mins by bus from the station. rent a bike and ride the bridge to the torii gate, it's peaceful. also if you're into trains, the oigawa railway is a bit farther but worth it for the steam locomotive and the mountain views, just check the schedule since it only runs certain days

if you've got a full day, take the train down to iragomisaki on the izu peninsula. it's about 2 hours but the coastal views are stunning and you can walk out to the lighthouse. there's a good seafood place right by the port, nothing fancy just fresh catch of the day. way less crowded than the main tourist spots too
