one thing nobody's mentioned is the area around kmm road in the old town, it's not on any tourist map but there's a bunch of small guesthouses above the shops there. i found a room for 600 a night once, bare bones but clean, and the rooftop view of the harbour at sunrise is something else. it's a 10 minute walk to the old lighthouse ruins which most people miss cause they stick to rk beach. just don't expect any english signage or online booking, you gotta ask the chai wallahs for a room and they'll point you to the right building
solid guide, covers the main options pretty well. one thing i'd throw in is the area near yendada, just north of rushikonda. it's got a few newer apartment complexes with airbnb listings that are way cheaper than the beach road hotels, like 1500 a night for a whole place, and the beach is a 5 minute walk down a hill. the catch is you need an auto or your own ride cause there's no real shops or restaurants up there, just residential streets. but if you want quiet and a view without paying the rushikonda premium, it's a good bet. also for the heritage section, the walk from one town to the dutch cemetery goes past a few old colonial bungalows that are falling apart but beautiful, worth a detour even if you're not staying there
yeah the budget backpacker section is accurate but i think they missed the guesthouses near ramakrishna beach, just a 5 min walk from jagadamba. there's one called sri sai lodge where i got a private room for 700 a night and the family running it makes amazing fish curry if you ask nicely. it's not on any app, you just show up and knock. also for transit hubs, the airport area has a small canteen inside the old terminal that does cheap meals, way better than the overpriced stuff near the new one. solid guide overall, covers the main options well

yeah the guide is good but one spot i never see mentioned is the old railway tunnel near Simhachalam temple. it's about a 15 minute walk from the main temple entrance down a dirt path past the bus stand. the tunnel was built by the british for some narrow gauge line that never really got used, it's dark and damp inside so bring a torch on your phone. locals sometimes use it as a shortcut to the village on the other side but most tourists dont even know it exists. went there on a rainy afternoon and the echo from the dripping water was kinda eerie but cool.
also if ur at the MVP dosa stall, skip the sugarcane juice and try the tender coconut from the guy with the cart near the auto stand instead. he cuts the top off with one clean swing and hands it to you with a straw for 20 bucks, way more refreshing after spicy food.
honestly the guide is spot on about the MVP colony dosa stall, that guy makes the best ghee roast I've had outside of tamil nadu. but if you're there around 7pm, walk two blocks towards the MVP double road junction, there's a tiny shop run by an old couple selling fresh sugarcane juice with ginger and lemon for like 15 rupees. perfect after the spicy dosa.
also the Kailasagiri eastern trail is nice but the real quiet spot is the little park behind the main hill, near the cable car station. there's a small pond with lotus flowers and benches shaded by big trees, hardly anyone goes there because they all rush to the viewpoint. sat there for an hour last week just watching the birds, felt like a different world from the chaos below.
the guide nailed the dolphine's nose rec, but most people stop at the main viewing deck. if you walk about 100 meters past the vendor stalls towards the radar station, there's a crumbling old lighthouse structure you can climb. it's not really maintained so be careful on the stairs, but the view from up there is way better than the crowded spot below. went at sunset last december and had it entirely to myself.
