honestly this is a solid guide, covered most of the basics. one thing i'd add is the rtc complex bus station area near jagadamba has some killer cheap breakfast options around 6-8am - like fresh pesarattu with ginger chutney for INR 25-30. way better than the touristy beach stalls imo

also for getting around, the share autos on the beach road to rushikonda are a steal at INR 20 per person. just flag one down from the bus stop near the aquarium, they run till about 9pm. beats paying INR 100+ for a solo auto

the submarine museum tip is spot on. if you're into history, try going on a weekday morning when it's less crowded. the walk from there to the dolphin's nose lighthouse is free and gives you the best views of the harbor

for seafood, the fishing harbor is great but go early like 5-6am when the catch comes in. you can get a kilo of fresh prawns for INR 300-400. most beachside shacks will cook it for you for a small fee if you ask nicely

one thing missing from the guide is the bhimili beach area - it's a short bus ride from the city (INR 15) and has way fewer crowds than RK beach. the sunset there is honestly better and you can get fresh coconut water for INR 20

The guide nails it on the mess food. I'd add that the Andhra Meal at Sri Kanya on Daba Gardens Road is worth the INR 90, but go before 1 PM because they run out of ghee and the curry options get picked over fast. For a free afternoon, the Buddhist site at Pavurallakonda is a better bet than Thotlakonda if you want fewer tourists and a quieter hike up the hill. The walk from the parking area takes about 20 minutes and the view over the bay is unbeatable. If you're near the railway station, the canteen there serves a solid INR 50 breakfast of idli and vada that's clean and quick, no need to hunt for a stall.

Yeah the guide is solid, especially the bit about Daba Gardens being a good budget base. I stayed at a place called Hotel Sri Residency there last year and it was INR 900 a night, nothing fancy but clean sheets and hot water. The real find was the small temple next door that does free prasadam meals on Thursday evenings, usually rice and sambar, no one checks if you're a tourist.

One thing I'd add for cheap eats is the lane opposite the old bus stand near Jagadamba. There's a guy who sets up a stall around 6pm selling gongura chicken and rice for INR 60 a plate. It's just a folding table and a gas stove but the flavor is better than most restaurants. He usually sells out by 8pm so get there early.

For getting around, the city bus route 900 from the railway station to Rushikonda beach is a steal at INR 15 and takes you right along the coast. The buses are a bit rattly but they run every 20 minutes and the AC ones cost only INR 5 more. I took it a few times and saved a ton on auto fares.

the guide misses the airport angle entirely which matters if ur flying into vizag. most people default to beach road but the airport is way up north at gannavaram side, so if u land late or leave early the rushikonda/madhurawada belt is actually the smarter base, 20 mins vs 45 to beach road in traffic. theres a cluster of midrange places around 40 to 70 near the tech park that dont show up in the usual lists

also on the MVP colony bit, waltair main road is where the good stuff is but the four points is priced for corporates tbh. there are smaller boutique stays off the second lane for half that with the same access to the restaurants on the main road

and yeah thanks for putting the rupee tax thing in there, that 12 to 18 percent catches people out constantly

one thing the guide gets right but underplays is the season timing. june to september is cheap for a reason, the humidity is brutal and the sea is rough so beach road loses most of its point. i'd take a cheaper dabagardens room in october over a beach road room in july any day.

on simhachalam, the guide lists it for pilgrims which is fair, but nobody mentions the actual temple timings mess. the queue for darshan can run 2 to 3 hours on weekends and the hotels there have zero to do after 8pm, so if ur only doing the temple once just stay in the city and take a cab up. saves you a boring night.

also worth knowing, prices in the guide are in dollars but almost every smaller hotel quotes in rupees and the conversion at the desk is usually worse than what ur card gives you, so ask for teh rupee rate upfront.

Good breakdown of the zones, this lines up with what I've seen over the years. One gap worth filling is the apartment and service apartment angle, which the guide skips entirely. If you're staying more than a week, especially in MVP Colony or Madhurawada, a furnished 1BHK on Airbnb or through local brokers runs 1200 to 2000 rupees a night and often beats a midrange hotel once you factor in laundry and eating in. I've done this twice near MVP and it worked out cheaper than Hotel Daspalla for a ten day stay.

On the Rushikonda point, the guide is right that buses thin out after 9 PM, but the bigger issue is that Ola and Uber surge hard when the IT crowd leaves at 6 or 7, so budget 300 to 400 rupees for that cab, not the usual 150. Also, if you're booking The Park for the beach, note that Rushikonda Beach has strong currents and lifeguards are only on duty till around 5:30, so don't plan late evening swims there.
