I'm around there most mornings and wondering if the coffee's still worth it in 2026 or if I should stick to my usual place near the station. Also curious what teh seating's like now, last time it felt a bit cramped for working.

The lane behind the cafe has a small Parsi bakery that opens at 7 and does a decent cutting chai with brun maska. For actual coffee, walk toward the Fort side, there's a place near the junction that roasts weekly and pulls a proper flat white around 120. Seating there is roomy and the wifi holds.

Flat white's gone up to 140 now fwiw

is that the spot with the tiny marble counter? went by last week n the shutter was down, guy said they open at 8 now

honestly steam's cold brew is still solid but seating got tighter after the reno, half the tables are two-seaters now so working there's a pain. try the little place off the lane behind it instead, quieter and the filter coffee's better anyway.

that lane place is good but their filter coffee runs out by 10 most days so go early

yeah the two seaters killed it for laptops. that lane spot's filter coffee is good but ngl i still end up at the udipi down the road for a 40 rupee cup

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Two-seaters aside, their cold brew's still the only one I'd pay for around there, and the lane spot closes by 6 sharp so mornings only.

kala ghoda cafe, go before 9

Agreed, though the good seats go by 8:30.

Old Market Hall Mumbai 2026, is it still worth a visit?

fmd_goodOld Market Hall · #stalls #market #mumbai
I've been going to Old Market Hall for years and it's lost some of its old buzz lately. Anyone know if the stalls are still running regular hours in 2026 or if it's mostly shut down now? Crawford Market side still busy, rest winds down by 6.

yeah the produce side is still alive but the upper floor stalls pretty much packed up. last i went, most shutters were down by 5:30, so go before lunch if u want the full thing.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down
Image madleine local ·

the upper floor's been dead for months, honestly the ground floor spice and dry fruit stalls are teh only ones worth the trip now

that 6pm thing is optimistic on weekdays tbh. by 4:30 the meat and poultry guys near the Sheikh Memon St entrance are already hosing down teh floors. sunday morning is when it actually feels like the old place.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

mornings before 9 are best tbh, by noon the fish smell alone will chase u off

Sunday mornings still work but the poultry guys are packing up earlier than most people think.

arrow_drop_up -2 arrow_drop_down

sundays are a whole different story there, way more alive than weekdays. rest of the week its pretty sleepy by afternoon honestly.

Six is generous for the non food side, most dry fruit and spice stalls start pulling shutters around 5. If you're after the hardware and household row near the Lokmanya Tilak Rd end, that stretch is basically done by 3 on weekdays.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

hardware row clears out even earlier on saturdays

true on the front side but even there it thins out fast after 5. the lanes running back toward Pydhonie go quiet first, so plan your loop from the front inward if ur going late afternoon.
