yeah the jasmine is way too perfumed, but grab the tieguanyin if they still have it, that's the one worth the trip

They restock tieguanyin on Thursdays so go early, by Sunday it's mostly dust.

I've had better luck asking for the autumn flush if you want the tieguanyin at its best. Spring gets all the hype but the autumn one's more consistent.

fair, the jasmine really does taste like soap. their dong ding is the sleeper pick tho, malty without being heavy & cheaper than the tieguanyin. ask for a sniff before u commit, they keep the fresh batch behind the counter at the Colaba shop

agreed on the jasmine, way too floral. but their da hong pao is the actual reason to go, roasty & forgiving even if u oversteep it. the bandra outpost also does tasting cups on saturdays if u dont wanna commit to a whole tin

true that, the jasmine overpowers everything. but if u want something lighter than the roasted stuff, ask for the bao zhong, they keep it in the unmarked tin. floral but way more restrained than teh jasmine.

the unmarked tin thing is real, just make sure u smell it before buying, the batch from last month went flat. if it does, the shui xian on the top shelf is a decent fallback at around 400 for 50g
