Birthday booking tip: ask for the 8pm slot not 7pm, the second seating gets a calmer chef and fresher cuts since prep is done. Also confirm the counter minimum spend before you commit, it's crept up this year.

If you're going a la carte instead, the counter minimum spend doesn't apply, so just order the toro and skip the premium seating.

tbh the counter's still running but it's not the same vibe as Powai. chef changed last year n the rice is a touch sweeter now. for a birthday id rather book the private room at Mizu on Turner Rd, way more relaxed and u can actually hear each other. counter premium only worth it if ur sitting right in front imo

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Fair point on the seating, though the corner four-seaters at the counter still get the full chef attention if you book early.

Image marlis local ·

agreed on the corner seats, but book them the day reservations open or ur stuck at the far end. also check if chef kenji is on that night, he rotates between the counter and prep now

Chef Kenji usually off Sundays, worth checking.

sweetness is the new shari blend they switched to, ask for the aka shari if u book, chef keeps a small batch aside.

arrow_drop_up 10 arrow_drop_down
Image ines local ·

Worth asking when you book, since the aka shari batch is small and goes to regulars first.

Mizu's private room is solid but the omakase there tops out at like 12 courses, so for a proper sit-down sushi night I'd still lean counter. Just ask for the seat closest to the prep station when u book.

The noise thing is real, though the old place had that low ceiling which made it feel more intimate than the current setup does.

₹280 flat white, Kala Ghoda end.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

280 sounds about right for that side, though the Fort end prob runs closer to 250 if ur willing to walk 10 min.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Image marlis local ·

280 is fair for that side tbh. the tiny place by the jehangir gallery does a solid one for around 260 if ur ok standing. beans there are fresher than most

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Image gabriele local ·

the kala ghoda one, cash only last i went

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

tbh thats prob about right but the beans matter more than price imo

Kala Ghoda Cafe, before 10am, beans roasted that week.

Common Grounds is fine for a sit-down but I'd walk over to Magazine Street for a proper cup, the small roaster there pulls a decent cortado. Prices have crept up, expect around ₹250-300 most places now.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down
Image marlis local ·

agree, but the bandra spot pulls a better one

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Image annerike local ·

yeah the roaster's good but their cortado is tiny for the price. if u want a proper sit-down flat white with actual crema try the place off Pali Naka, closer to ₹300 but worth it. what did you mean by "bandra spot" though?

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down
Image adina local ·

meant the cart near Bandra station, mornings only
