Working from a Mumbai restaurant in 2026?

Is the wifi reliable enough for calls, and do they mind laptops during the day? Also curious how late it stays busy since I'll be overlapping with a US timezone.

wifi at baithak dropped twice on me last month during a client call, so keep ur phone hotspot ready as backup

signal's worse upstairs near the back wall, so grab a table by the window if u need a stable call

arrow_drop_up 13 arrow_drop_down

same happened to me around 4pm when the college crowd hits, so save the hotspot login before u sit down

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

good shout on the hotspot. their router sits in the back office so it chokes whenever the kitchen printer fires up, usually around lunch service. keep ur backup on 5ghz if ur phone supports it

Chef's printer is on the same circuit as the back router, so it drops for about 30 seconds, not long, but enough to kill a Zoom handshake.

Second this, happened to me mid-monsoon too.

Laptops are fine through the afternoon lull, but by 7pm the Kala Ghoda crowd makes calls impossible, so book the US overlap for mornings instead.

The morning call is the right call, though I'd aim for opening around 8.30 rather than later, since the coffee crowd builds by 10. If you're on US Pacific hours, the 6.30am slot is quieter still and the staff won't rush you.

Best way to meet people in Mumbai 2026

I'd rather join something that meets regularly than go to one-off events, so what recurring groups or activities actually work for newcomers? I had pizza at Forno Centrale on my last visit and would love to find a similar casual crowd to hang out with.

Running clubs along Carter Road or the Bandra crowd that meets on weekends tend to work well for repeat faces. I don't live there but that's the pattern I've heard from people who do.
