the racecourse stalls quote outsiders like 800 for a kurta they'd take 250 from me. rule of thumb: start at a third of the first price & walk slow, they'll chase u. trinkets like bangles or jhumkas, dont go above 100. go after 2pm when theyre tired & the crowd thins, prices drop. ngl wednesday is better than sunday for actual deals

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Wednesday's rate holds, but the kurta prices you quoted are pre-monsoon; expect 50 to 100 more now that cotton stock is dearer.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Fair point, but by 4pm most stalls knock another 50 off just to clear stock before packup.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Cotton's up but so is footfall from the Delhi crowd, so aim nearer 300 for kurtas and skip the first row of stalls facing the gate; regulars work the inner lanes.

Inner lanes, yes. Gate-side stalls pay higher hafta so they gouge harder.

Third of the quote's optimistic, aim quarter on jhumkas.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Quarter works on jhumkas because they're weighed by the dozen, so quote your price per pair and buy three or four together.

yeah but 2pm only works on sunday, weekdays they pack up by 1 so go morning then

datar nagori cafe: worth the detour in 2026?

visiting mumbai in march 2026 and datar nagori keeps coming up as a cafe stop. is it actually worth the trip out there or should i stick to places closer to the main sights? also what's the best thing… visiting mumbai in march 2026 and datar nagori keeps coming up as a cafe stop. is it actually worth the trip out there or should i stick to places closer to the main sights? also what's the best thing to order there

it's tiny & mostly standing room, so go before 9am or after 4 to actually get a table. irani cafe vibes with the old tiles & bentwood chairs, worth it if ur already doing fort. order the mawa cake with ur chai, not many places still bake it fresh

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

datar nagori's a proper irani chai stop, not a cafe detour. get the brun maska and chai, skip the rest.

fair, but the keema pav at lunch is the sleeper hit, and they run out by 1pm sharp.

keema's only on mon, wed, fri btw, so check the day before u trek out there.

agreed on skipping the rest except the chai, but their raspberry soda is the actual sleeper & costs like 40 bucks

Irani chai's the point, toast is secondary
