Skip the dry goods there and stick to produce, the packaged stuff is priced same as any kirana. For a short stay, Colaba market off Sassoon Dock road gives you decent greens without the wholesale minimums. Bring small notes, change is a real hassle.

Agree on the small notes, vendors there rarely break a 500

dry goods point holds, but colaba greens rn r mostly resale from the same mandi so u pay a middleman cut. for actual savings on staples go to a kirana in a residential lane, theyll match supermarket rates & deliver free if ur buying a few hundred rupees worth

Bhaji Galli at Sion, before 7am.

Sion's fine but the Lalbaug end near the municipal school is tighter for greens, and the vendors there start packing up by 8. Bring a cloth bag, plastic gets charged now.

City Market (the one near Crawford) is more bulk/wholesale vibes, so for a short stay a regular supermarket like DMart or Reliance Fresh is easier. Fruit and veg there can be 20 to 30 percent cheaper than neighbourhood stalls tho. Go early morning, prices climb by noon.

yeah the early morning bit is the real trick, by 11 it's basically retail pricing. if u want the actual wholesale rate go to the vashi APMC yard instead, though that's a trek from where ur staying. for a short trip just grab what u need at the nearest kirana tbh

Image marlis local ·

the tomato crate rate at the mandi drops again after 1pm when trucks clear stock, opposite of what u said

Paying by UPI kills your bargaining power there, vendors quote one rate for cash and another for QR scan.

Is the coffee there worth making a stop for, or should I be walking to somewhere nearby instead? Any idea what a flat white runs these days?

Common Grounds is fine for the vibe but I'd walk to Kala Ghoda instead, flat whites run around 280 to 320 now.

Kala Ghoda's a fair walk from there, so try the Irani cafe on the same lane first, chai's cheap but the filter coffee holds up.

Fair point on the price, though I'd cut through Horniman Circle rather than walk the long way round via DN Road, it's quicker and shaded. If you're already there, Kala Ghoda Cafe does a decent pour over for around 250.

Agree on the price, though that stretch of Fort has a couple of smaller roasters doing flat whites nearer 250 if you don't mind no seating.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

280 to 320 tracks, though the tiny place off Rampart Row does a solid one nearer 220 if you don't need to sit

the flat white at subko is better tbh
