Is the Sunday Market near Gateway worth a visit in 2026?

Is it still worth a look for antiques and old prints, or has it become mostly tourist trinkets? Also, what time should I get there before the good stuff goes?

Honestly most of the good print sellers sit on the Colaba Causeway side, near the Regal Cinema end, not deep in the market itself. Go on a dry Sunday, since a bit of rain empties half the stalls. Bring cash and skip the food carts.

regal end gets picked over fast tbh, the stalls past the causeway toward the church have better prints usually. skip the food carts is solid advice, my stomach learned that the hard way lol

Watch the tide charts, high water clears them out early.

Print sellers near Regal are mostly resellers now, ask around for the old Bohri Mohalla bookwallahs who set up closer to the Sasoon dock end. And skip anything framed, the glass is usually cracked by the time you get it home.

good shout on the bookwallahs, some of them have been doing that stretch for decades. ask for Yusuf, his stall sits just past the second lamp post, he keeps the real lithographs in a trunk under the table. skip anyone selling framed stuff from a van

Dry Sunday is key, stalls pack up by 11

Pack-up time drifts later in winter, closer to noon once the sun's properly up. One thing worth knowing: the stallholders watch the tide charts, a high tide flooding the steps thins the crowd fast.

Second the cash tip, vendors near the causeway inflate prices for card

The antique stalls are mostly along the stretch past the Asiatic Steps, not right at the Gateway where the trinket sellers cluster. Go before 7am, the print and coin dealers from Chor Bazaar pack up by nine once the tour groups arrive. February is peak season so expect higher asking prices, bargain hard. It's a shadow of what it was ten years ago but still worth an hour if you know what you're looking for.

Is 900 rupees normal for dinner in Mumbai 2026?

900 is high, thali places near stations run 250-400

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Depends on area, Dadar station side hits 450 now.

Matunga side sits closer to 500 with AC.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Image zayayilmaz local ·

Those 250-400 rates are for the roadside thali joints around Ghatkopar and Kurla, not a sit-down place like Milan Punjab.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Image madleine local ·

Only for standing counter thalis, seated places double that

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image emily local ·

For 250-400 you're getting a limited veg thali at a veg place, a proper punjabi thaali with paneer and sweet runs 600+

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Image merlinde local ·

That range is for the basic veg thali at a no-frills place, whereas paneer and a sweet push it closer to 600 before tax.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Image irmelie local ·

900 sounds like the sit-down AC price honestly. Milan Punjab is a proper restaurant, not a street thali stall, so you're paying for the table and service too. Near the station you can def find decent thalis for 300-500 if you're ok with basic seating. If you want a nicer dinner out 900 isnt crazy for 2026.
