Which permit do I actually need for a longer stay, and what documents tend to trip people up at the FRRO office? I'll be staying near Foodland so any tips on the closest office would help too.

The permit you want is a medical or business visa extension, but if you're just visiting, the e-visa extension route via FRRO is what applies. Book the appointment online first, walk-ins get turned away at Bandra. Photos need to be the 2x2 white background type, they're picky about that. Also bring photocopies of everything, the Xerox guy downstairs charges triple.

Right on the online booking, but do carry your appointment printout and passport copies or they'll bounce you at the gate. Photos should be the 2x2 white one, and get there early since queues build fast after 9.

second this, early slot saves u hours

medical visa extension needs a hospital letter first

Fair point on booking ahead, though the online slot itself expires if you show up more than fifteen minutes late.

foodland means nothing here, name the area properly, but frro bandra is the one for most suburbs & the address proof mismatch is what kills people

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah frro bandra, & carry ur lease deed + owner's id

Electric bill in the same name, that's the real trap.

Landlord's NOC letter, not just the lease

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

name the area & u'll get a straight answer. on the mismatch, the fix is a society letter or leave-and-license on stamp paper matching ur passport address exactly, not a random bill

I want to sell my old clothes

arrow_drop_up 96 arrow_drop_down

have u tried the chor bazaar route? not for selling to shops but the friday morning flea guys near mumbadevi, some of them buy vintage/retro pieces outright and pay better than the bale walas if ur stuff has any character. got 800 for a bunch of old levi's and band tees there. thing is u gotta go early like 6am and know how to hold ur ground, they smell desperation instantly

one thing nobody mentioned, watch out for the weight vs piece thing. kabadiwalas and bale buyers pay by kilo so heavy stuff like denim and woolens actually earn more than fancy light stuff. i cleared a whole bag of old jeans to a guy in Malad for way better than what my branded shirts fetched. also wash everything before u show it, sounds obvious but dusty clothes get lowballed on sight.

honestly the timing matters more than the platform. end of month is when people get salary and actually buy, so list ur stuff around the 1st or 2nd. also post pics in natural light near a window, not on ur bed with flash, makes a huge difference on OLX and insta thrift pages. i've flipped a lot of my old stuff this way and the same kurta that got ignored at 300 sold for 500 when i relisted it properly.
