Local House temple in Mumbai worth visiting 2026?

fmd_goodLocal House · #temple #market #mumbai
Been meaning to check out Local House on P D'Mello Road but not sure what to expect. Is it worth a stop if I'm already around Crawford Market? Also is there a decent time to go that avoids the crowds? Been meaning to check out Local House on P D'Mello Road but not sure what to expect. locals call it the local house temple not "local house," ask any cabbie near crawford & they'll know. go before 8am or you'll be stuck behind darshan queues, sunday mornings are chaos. honestly 20 mins is enough, don't build a whole trip around it

Aarti at 7pm is quieter than mornings.

the lane off p d'mello gets flooded after heavy rain so check the forecast before walking down

that stretch by the null bazaar turning gets ankle deep fast so wear floaters not chappals if ur going post monsoon

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Null bazaar stretch drains slowest, give it an hour after rain stops.

check the tide chart too, high tide around spring tides backs the storm water up and the whole stretch sits till it recedes

yeah 20 mins is about right, maybe less if there's no queue. pair it with the pooja shops on bhuleshwar side after, that's the actual draw. avoid saturday too, lots of wedding parties come through

Also skip the 5-6pm slot, that's when office crowd from Masjid Bunder side trickles in

I want to sell my old clothes

arrow_drop_up 106 arrow_drop_down

have u tried the chor bazaar route? not for selling to shops but the friday morning flea guys near mumbadevi, some of them buy vintage/retro pieces outright and pay better than the bale walas if ur stuff has any character. got 800 for a bunch of old levi's and band tees there. thing is u gotta go early like 6am and know how to hold ur ground, they smell desperation instantly

one thing nobody mentioned, watch out for the weight vs piece thing. kabadiwalas and bale buyers pay by kilo so heavy stuff like denim and woolens actually earn more than fancy light stuff. i cleared a whole bag of old jeans to a guy in Malad for way better than what my branded shirts fetched. also wash everything before u show it, sounds obvious but dusty clothes get lowballed on sight.

honestly the timing matters more than the platform. end of month is when people get salary and actually buy, so list ur stuff around the 1st or 2nd. also post pics in natural light near a window, not on ur bed with flash, makes a huge difference on OLX and insta thrift pages. i've flipped a lot of my old stuff this way and the same kurta that got ignored at 300 sold for 500 when i relisted it properly.
