Mumbai eatery licence 2026: stuck on the health NOC

I've got the shop and establishment registration and the fire clearance done, but the ward office keeps sending me back over the water testing report format. Has anyone gone through this at the Fort ward office recently and knows exactly which lab report they accept?

Kalbadevi ward lab, Tuesday mornings.

sample bottles collected before 10 else it rolls to next week

went there last month and they'd shifted water sample collection to the Fort ward office itself, so double check before you trek to kalbadevi

Counter closes by noon though

The BMC health dept usually wants the report from their own lab at the ward level, not a private one. Ask the Fort ward clerk which specific lab they empanelled for 2026, since the list changes and private reports get rejected on format alone.

yep this is right, but ask for the empanelled list in writing from the ward clerk, they keep a printed copy at the counter. also confirm the lab's validity covers your sampling date, not just 2026 generally, since some empanelments lapse mid year.

ask at counter 11am, clerk's there before lunch rush

Agreed, and check the report carries the ward's own sample seal number, since Fort's clerk matches it against the collection register.

Get the ward's junior engineer to sign off on the sample collection itself, since most rejections trace back to unsealed or unsigned sample containers rather than the lab.

also worth carrying the signed container slip to the health dept desk personally, they sit on it for days otherwise

I want to sell my old clothes

arrow_drop_up 29 arrow_drop_down

have u tried the chor bazaar route? not for selling to shops but the friday morning flea guys near mumbadevi, some of them buy vintage/retro pieces outright and pay better than the bale walas if ur stuff has any character. got 800 for a bunch of old levi's and band tees there. thing is u gotta go early like 6am and know how to hold ur ground, they smell desperation instantly

one thing nobody mentioned, watch out for the weight vs piece thing. kabadiwalas and bale buyers pay by kilo so heavy stuff like denim and woolens actually earn more than fancy light stuff. i cleared a whole bag of old jeans to a guy in Malad for way better than what my branded shirts fetched. also wash everything before u show it, sounds obvious but dusty clothes get lowballed on sight.

honestly the timing matters more than the platform. end of month is when people get salary and actually buy, so list ur stuff around the 1st or 2nd. also post pics in natural light near a window, not on ur bed with flash, makes a huge difference on OLX and insta thrift pages. i've flipped a lot of my old stuff this way and the same kurta that got ignored at 300 sold for 500 when i relisted it properly.
