What's the actual vibe there and which drinks or snacks are worth ordering on a first visit? Also, is it easy to reach by local train or should I just take a cab?

Steam's at Kalaghoda so take the local to Churchgate and walk up, easier than a cab in traffic.

Agreed, though I'd hop off at Marine Lines instead, it's a shorter walk up to Kalaghoda and skips the Churchgate crowd.

Marine Lines is definitely the better call, especially in the evening when Churchgate gets chaotic. Just watch the one-way streets around there if you're walking, the footpaths are a mess.

yeah and weekday mornings before 10 it's empty

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

true, but sundays it fills up by 9

Weekday mornings are quiet but the barista crowd from the nearby offices starts trickling in around 10:30, so aim for 9 to 9:45.

Kala Ghoda Cafe on Rampart Row does a solid flat white if you want a backup nearby. At Steam, order the cold brew and the cheese toast, skip the pastries. Reach it via CSMT or take an Uber, the walk from either station is short.

Honestly the flat white at that Rampart Row spot runs 280 now, which stings a bit for the size you get.

The cheese toast is the right call but I'd add the chicken croissant if you're there past noon, it sells out by 2 on weekdays. Skip the outdoor tables in June, the humidity kills the vibe.

croissant goes by 1 on saturdays fyi

I want to sell my old clothes

arrow_drop_up 17 arrow_drop_down

have u tried the chor bazaar route? not for selling to shops but the friday morning flea guys near mumbadevi, some of them buy vintage/retro pieces outright and pay better than the bale walas if ur stuff has any character. got 800 for a bunch of old levi's and band tees there. thing is u gotta go early like 6am and know how to hold ur ground, they smell desperation instantly

one thing nobody mentioned, watch out for the weight vs piece thing. kabadiwalas and bale buyers pay by kilo so heavy stuff like denim and woolens actually earn more than fancy light stuff. i cleared a whole bag of old jeans to a guy in Malad for way better than what my branded shirts fetched. also wash everything before u show it, sounds obvious but dusty clothes get lowballed on sight.

honestly the timing matters more than the platform. end of month is when people get salary and actually buy, so list ur stuff around the 1st or 2nd. also post pics in natural light near a window, not on ur bed with flash, makes a huge difference on OLX and insta thrift pages. i've flipped a lot of my old stuff this way and the same kurta that got ignored at 300 sold for 500 when i relisted it properly.
