Stayed at the Prakash Inn last week. The staff were super friendly, the chai was amazing, but I swear I heard strange noises coming from room 307 every night. Sounded like...whispering? nah 307 is just above the kitchen exhaust, teh duct runs right past that wall. i stayed in 305 last year and thought the same thing till the manager showed me. its the fan bearings plus the old plumbing, makes a weird hum that sounds almost like voices at 2am. ask for a room on the other side next time, 204 or 206 are way quieter.

honestly 307 is the one room where the AC unit sits right against the outside parapet, so every cat that walks by at night sounds like it's inside the room. stayed there once during monsoon and thought the place was haunted till i figured it out. if you want the good chai and no drama ask for 302, same side but the AC is mounted lower.

room 307 has that thin wall shared with the building next door, so ur probably hearing their tv or arguments at night. i stayed there in 2022 & asked to switch, they moved me to 210 no questions asked. just tell them the wall is too thin, they know

meetha pan is still solid but the gulkand ratio did shift slightly, less sweet now. i usually get the calcutta meetha with extra supari on the side, uncle charges 40 for it these days. go before 9pm, he shuts early on weekdays

The supari on the side is smart, otherwise the sweet gets lost by the last bite.

True, once the chuna kicks in the sweetness fades fast. I keep the supari aside and chew it after, otherwise the last third is just betel leaf and spit. Uncle does a lighter chuna on request if you ask early.

That explains it, the mix tastes cleaner now, less of that heavy syrupy feel. He gets it fresh in small batches so some days it's milder than others.
