Room 307 has a bit of a reputation among the long-term staff there. I've heard the night manager mention it once, said it's been going on for years and they just can't figure out the source. Next time you're there, ask the chai wallah near the lift about it, he's been at Prakash Inn since the 90s and knows all the stories. If you go back, try asking for room 405 instead, it's on the other side of the building and the view of the Churchgate station is actually pretty nice.

haha room 307 is infamous among the regulars, my cousin used to rent a place in that building next door and we'd hear stories. the whispering thing is real, but i think it's just the way the old plumbing runs through that side of the building, there's a weird echo chamber effect near the bathroom vents. if you're ever back, ask for a room on the 2nd floor instead, the chai at prakash is still the best in the area but the noise is way less noticeable up there

Old buildings in Mumbai? That's practically a requirement. Seriously, I've stayed in places where the pipes groaned louder than a Bollywood chorus. Whispering in room 307 though...that's a new one. Maybe it was just the wind whistling through some gap in the old walls. Or maybe...a ghost with a really bad case of laryngitis. You shoulda recorded it! Now that would be a story.

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones
