I've heard it's pretty quiet, a bit of an escape from the crazy city buzz. But I'm worried about finding good, affordable food options nearby. Are there any hidden little eateries or street food stalls that locals love, the kind that aren't in every tourist guide? I really want to avoid the usual tourist traps. I'm hoping for some genuinely delicious and authentic Mumbai street food experiences.

The colony has a morning vibe that's worth waking up for. There's a lady who sets up a small cart near the colony's back gate on Juhu Lane around 7am, she makes fresh poha with sev and a squeeze of lime, costs 20 rupees and comes in a little paper cone. For evenings, walk towards the Vakola bridge around 7pm and you'll find a family-run stall doing chilli cheese toast on an old tawa, it's crispy on the outside and gooey inside, not something you see everywhere. The area around the old Khar station footbridge also has a couple of stalls selling fresh sugarcane juice with ginger and lemon, which is a lifesaver after walking around in the heat.

You're in a good spot for a different side of Mumbai. The colony itself is quiet but the surrounding lanes have some real finds. Walk towards the Vakola market side around 8am and you'll find a small stall near the municipal school that does a mean missal pav, the gravy is dark and spicy with those crispy farsan on top. Also on the same stretch there's a guy who fries fresh batata wada in a tiny kadai and serves it with a bright green chutney that'll clear your sinuses. The prices are still old school, 20 bucks for a plate of two.

if you're up for a 10 minute walk towards the juhu circle side, there's a guy who sets up near the lane opposite the old anupam theatre around 7pm. he does these crispy pani puri with a really spicy mint water that locals line up for, not the sweet tourist version. also the small sandwich stall on the corner of jvpd scheme road near the siddhivinayak temple entrance is solid, they do a grilled bombay sandwich with beetroot and cheese for 40 bucks that hits different after a long day of exploring

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
