Suman Nagar's Secret Spices?

I'm heading to Suman Nagar next week, super stoked! I've heard the street food there is insane, especially the chaat. I've heard the street food there is insane, especially the chaat. But I'm a bit of a spice wimp... anyone know where I can find some milder options, or maybe places that offer different spice levels? I don't wanna spend the whole trip sweating bullets. Really looking forward to exploring the neighbourhood though, it sounds amazing.

The pani puri guy on the lane behind the Suman Nagar bus stop is a safe bet for spice wimps. He's been there for years and his pani is more tangy than fiery, with a noticeable sweetness from the tamarind. Another good move is to grab a kulfi from the shop near the post office first, the cold milk fat coats your stomach and takes the edge off anything spicy you eat after. Just avoid the bright red chutney drizzled over anything, that's where the real heat lives.

honestly dont sweat the spice thing too much. theres a guy near the main junction who does a killer dahi puri - the yogurt really cools everything down. also try the papdi chaat from the stall next to the Suman Nagar pharmacy, they have a "mild" option written in hindi on their board. just point and say "kam spicy" and youll be fine. the real heat is in the chutneys anyway, so you can just skip those.

if you're near the sukh shanti garden, skip the chaat for a sec and try the bhajiya wala on the corner of the lane leading to the park. his onion bhajiyas are super light on chili, mostly just crispy gram flour and salt, and he always has a bowl of coconut chutney instead of the green one. also, the kachori from the same guy is stuffed with a mild moong dal filling, barely any heat. good for easing into the neighbourhood without your mouth on fire

I want to sell my old clothes

ngl the easiest way is to just hand them over to a scrapwala near your building, they'll sort through and take what they want, rest goes to recycling. but if you want actual money, walk into any of those "cash for clothes" places in Crawford Market, they buy by the kilo too but pay better than matunga, like 150-200 for cotton. just don't bring anything with stains or tears, they'll reject it outright and you'll waste your time hauling it there

fwiw you could also try the Instagram thrift stores that are based out of mumbai, like "bombay thrift store" or "mumbai thrift club". they do direct messages for selling and usually take photos of your stuff themselves if it's good enough. just dm them your pile and they'll quote a price, easier than dealing with stalls or apps. also, if you have any branded stuff, try the "luxury thrift" pages instead, they pay way better for zara or h&m than the general ones

The St. Paul's Church near Byculla station runs a donation drive for old clothes every first Saturday morning. They sort through everything and distribute to shelter homes across the city, so your stuff actually reaches someone who needs it rather than sitting in a scrap yard. Just drop off before 11am or the volunteers pack up for the day.
