The place itself was fine, a little dated but clean. Thing is, every night around 3 AM, I heard this faint, almost melodic humming coming from somewhere in the building. Couldn't pinpoint it. Anyone else ever experience anything weird at Prakash Inn? It wasn't like a noisy plumbing issue, more like... a song? Seriously unsettling. Made me think of old Bombay stories...

the humming's been going on for years, i used to live off wodehouse road and you could hear it from the veranda around that time too. it's not the boats or the pumps, those stop by midnight. i asked an old watchman at the regal cinema once and he laughed, said it was the "kofta song" from the old bombay bakery in the lane behind prakash inn, they start their dough at 3 am and the owner hums while he kneads. the vents carry it right up the building. if u want actual silence, book the corner room on the second floor, the one with the peeling teal paint, the wall's solid brick there and it kills the sound. or just bring earplugs, honestly the samosas from that bakery are worth the sleepless night.

honestly i think i know what you're talking about. my cousin used to work the night shift at the Taj next door and he'd hear the same thing from the back alleys near the old customs house. he always said it sounded like a bhajan, but really faint, like it was coming from under the water. we figured it was the fishing boats drifting in from the harbour, they sometimes play those old devotional tapes while they wait. weird how it lines up with 3 AM though, that's when the tide's highest, so probably just the hulls creaking against the jetty. if it bugs you again, ask for a room on the sea side, the noise gets buried under the traffic from Apollo Bunder.

i grew up near there and my nana always said that sound was the old bunder lights reflecting off the water, like a frequency thing. he claimed it only happened when the moon was fullish and the harbor was dead calm, so the ships' sonar bounced weird off the hotel's old stone foundation. not saying it's true but i checked the lunar calendar for last week and it was waxing gibbous, so maybe that's the pattern. if it happens again, try the fourth floor, the stairwell there faces the ferry terminal and it cuts all that out.

I want to sell my old clothes

arrow_drop_up 27 arrow_drop_down

have u tried the chor bazaar route? not for selling to shops but the friday morning flea guys near mumbadevi, some of them buy vintage/retro pieces outright and pay better than the bale walas if ur stuff has any character. got 800 for a bunch of old levi's and band tees there. thing is u gotta go early like 6am and know how to hold ur ground, they smell desperation instantly

one thing nobody mentioned, watch out for the weight vs piece thing. kabadiwalas and bale buyers pay by kilo so heavy stuff like denim and woolens actually earn more than fancy light stuff. i cleared a whole bag of old jeans to a guy in Malad for way better than what my branded shirts fetched. also wash everything before u show it, sounds obvious but dusty clothes get lowballed on sight.

honestly the timing matters more than the platform. end of month is when people get salary and actually buy, so list ur stuff around the 1st or 2nd. also post pics in natural light near a window, not on ur bed with flash, makes a huge difference on OLX and insta thrift pages. i've flipped a lot of my old stuff this way and the same kurta that got ignored at 300 sold for 500 when i relisted it properly.
