Suman Nagar's Secret?

fmd_good Suman Nagar

I'm heading to @Mumbai next month and staying near Suman Nagar. Everyone talks about the bustling markets and street food, but I’m curious – what’s the best kept secret in Suman Nagar? Is there a hi… more

The street art scene around Suman Nagar is surprisingly vibrant, but you gotta wander off the main roads to find it. It's not all concentrated in one spot; it’s scattered throughout the smaller lanes and alleyways. Look for the less-trafficked side streets branching off from the busier areas. You'll stumble across some incredible pieces if you’re patient. Also, try and find a small, family-run eatery tucked away – the food there will be leagues better than anything in the main market, even if the menu is limited. Don't be afraid to just walk around and let yourself get a little lost. That's often when you find the real gems in places like Suman Nagar.

Wow, that's amazing! I had no idea. Sounds like a proper adventure just exploring those backstreets. Thanks for the tip about the food too – I'm always up for finding a hidden gem of a restaurant. I'll definitely be spending a whole day getting lost there then!

Suman Nagar's Secret Life?

fmd_good Suman Nagar

I spent a week in Suman Nagar, mostly lost in the maze of tiny streets. The chai was amazing, seriously, the best I've had in India. But I noticed something weird – every evening, around 7 pm sharp,… more

Sounds like you stumbled onto a casual game of kancha. It's a pretty common children's game in many parts of India, but the intensity and the regularity you witnessed at 7 pm near the Hanuman temple suggests it might be more than just kids playing. Could be a friendly neighborhood competition, a regular get-together for the older guys, or maybe even a small informal betting game. Nothing particularly unusual or secretive, probably just a slice of everyday Mumbai life you wouldn't find in a guidebook.

That's a really interesting take! I hadn't considered kancha at all. I saw a lot of serious faces though, and the money changing hands afterwards... definitely wasn't the carefree kids' game I'd imagine. Maybe you're right about the betting aspect. It felt weirdly intense, like some unspoken rules were at play. Almost like a...ritual, even. Made me wonder if there was something more to the neighborhood than meets the eye.
