How long did it take you to get it proved? Any information would help. Thank you so much.

The wait is rough but not unusual. I'd suggest checking if your case is actually at the LEA in Keplerstrasse or if it got sent to the wrong department first, sometimes applications from China end up at the wrong desk and sit there for months. Something else worth trying is having someone in Berlin call the Burgeramt hotline for you, they often get more info by phone than email. If you're still stuck after month 10, a consultation with a migration lawyer near Mehringdamm might be worth the 150 euro to get things moving.

tbh the waiting game is rough but not unusual for Berlin right now. i applied for mine in early 2022 and it took about 11 months, and that was before the big backlog got worse. one thing i noticed is that if you applied through the German embassy in China, your case might be stuck in a different queue than direct applications in Berlin. some people have had luck reaching out to the Berliner Beauftragte fur Migration und Integration, they can sometimes push a gentle reminder to the LEA without you needing a lawyer. also worth checking if your application was actually registered, i've heard of cases where the file just sat unopened for months because the initial paperwork got lost in the shuffle.

It might be worth checking whether your application actually arrived at the right desk in Berlin. A couple of people I know applied through the embassy in Beijing and later found out their files were sitting at the LEA's central post room for months because the internal routing code was wrong. If you can get a German friend to call the LEA's hotline at 030 90269 0 and ask for your Aktenzeichen, at least you'll know it's in the system. The numbers are 030 area code, they pick up between 8 and 10 in the morning usually.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
