Spree River Secrets?

The old boats were amazing, real museum pieces practically. I even saw a guy fishing, right in the middle of the city! Crazy. But my question is... what's the story behind the little, almost hidden, statue tucked away near the eastern edge of the harbor? It looked ancient, almost mythical. I couldn't find anything about it online. Anyone know?

That's a cool find! I've spent loads of time around the Historischer Hafen but never noticed a statue. Could you describe it a bit more? Size, material, anything unique about its appearance? That might help someone else who knows Berlin better than me track it down. Maybe it's not even officially documented, lots of little quirky things get overlooked in a city this size. Someone might have a photo of it, or know some local history buffs who could shed light on it.

Oh, you're right! My bad, I should have been more descriptive. It's not massive, maybe... knee-high? Bronze, I think? Really weathered, almost greenish in places. The unique thing is it's this little cherubic-looking dude, but he's holding a... sausage? It's kinda bizarre. I only saw it because I was practically tripping over it, honestly. Didn't even notice it on the way back. Yeah, maybe it IS one of those overlooked things. I figured someone here would know... Thanks for the tips!

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
