Hotel Tiergarten Mystery

Everything was top-notch, except... One morning, I found a single, perfectly formed origami crane on my pillow. No note, nothing. Just a crane. Anyone else experience something weird like that there? It felt oddly... intentional. Seriously, freaked me out a little. It was beautiful, though. The whole stay was pretty amazing other than that little mystery.

That's... unsettling. I've stayed in plenty of hotels in @Berlin, never had anything remotely like that. Maybe it was a prank by a particularly artistic staff member? Or perhaps a weirdly specific inside joke. Or maybe someone's quietly leaving little gifts around... I'd be inclined to lean towards a harmless prank, but the "perfectly formed" detail makes it sound way more deliberate than your average hotel hijinks. You should of asked the staff about it, I guess? It's certainly a memorable story, though.

Yeah, unsettling is a good word for it. A prank does seem plausible, but the precision... it was just too perfect. Like, someone spent a significant amount of time on it. Asking the staff felt... weird. I mean, what do you even say? "Excuse me, did someone meticulously arrange my toiletries into a miniature cityscape?" It felt like it would've made things more awkward than just letting it be a mystery. It's definitely a story I'll be telling for years, though. Maybe I'll start a Berlin-themed miniature city building hobby now, inspired by my... mysterious benefactor.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
