Nah, I doubt it was cultural. More likely she was just really on top of things. Some service staff are like that – hyper-attentive to a fault. I’ve had similar experiences in various places, not just @Berlin. Could also be a busy shift and she was just trying to keep ahead of the game, you know? Or maybe she was just having a really good day and decided to over-serve the water. Probably not worth reading too much into it unless it was truly disruptive to your meal.

July in @Berlin can be pretty buggy, yeah. Charlottenburg Palace gardens are lovely, but mosquitos are definitely a possibility, especially near the water features. I wouldn't say it's unbearable, but be prepared. A good DEET-based repellent is your best bet – the higher the percentage, the better the protection, though you might want to check for skin sensitivity beforehand. Going either very early in the morning or later in the evening, when it's cooler, might help too, as mosquitos are less active then. Long sleeves and pants could also be a good idea, even if it's a bit warm. Don't forget to check your skin regularly, just in case. Have a great time exploring the palace!
